2020 RAM 1500 Owns the Road With an All-New Engine

Road and Track calls the 2020 RAM 1500 with the EcoDiesel engine the McMansion of pickups, and they are right. It's a bit of a show-off but has the specs to back up its boastful air. The truck is packed with luxury touches that make it one of the most comfortable vehicles on the road. Its spacious interior has a multitude of compartments for cargo, and its tough-looking exterior design is an attention-getter on the road.

RAM completely redesigned their 2019 RAM half-ton pickups and their popularity soared. They made record sales in June of 2018 and sold nearly 600,000 pickups in 2018, making their redesigned RAM a huge success.

The 2020 model is part of the fifth-generation RAM 1500. It offers a light-duty diesel engine, branded EcoDiesel, as an option. It's available across all of the RAM 1500 trim levels and 80% of its parts are new. The engine, designed by VM Motori, is 50 pounds lighter and puts out 480 lb-ft of torque with 360 horsepower. It has a maximum tow rating of 12,560 pounds.

RAM 1500 Available Trims

There are six trims to choose from: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn and Limited. All models come with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine with the option of moving up to the 5.7-liter V8 with eTorque.

Bed options include the crew-cab short-bed measuring five feet, seven inches or the quad cab long bed measuring six feet, four inches.

All trim levels offer safety features including blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning plus and forward collision mitigation.

The RAM 1500 offers a buildable truck that's functional, powerful and comfortable at any level. The Laramie is a great value with a multitude of amenities. It offers a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen in addition to heated and ventilated front seats. Laramie drivers also get access to options that aren't available on the Bighorn and Tradesman trim levels.

All trim levels include the eTorque system and coil-spring rear suspension, making the RAM 1500 stand out from competitors in the half-ton class.

2020 RAM 1500 Rebel is the Off-Road Master

The 2020 RAM 1500 Rebel experienced major changes with the new model year. The RAM Rebel Black Appearance package offers a menacing all-black exterior outfitted with LED headlamps with black bezels. The interior of this luxury off-road truck is also all-black. The ruby-red additions to the black interior are an available upgrade worth exploring for the wow factor.

The V6 3.6-liter engine provides 305 horsepower with available four-wheel drive. The RAM Rebel has a towing capacity of 7,160 pounds. A factory lift, standard electric locking rear axle and tow hooks make this truck look the part.

The Rebel also offers standard wireless charging, a 12-way power driver's seat and heated rear seats. A power tailgate release adds even more convenience to this beautiful and practical truck.

RAM 1500 Longhorn

Longhorn drivers can choose between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Two-tone color options or bold chrome allow for a personal touch. Barnwood accents, a Laramie Longhorn branding mark on the glove box, and premium leather give this truck a lush southwestern feel.

A 12-inch touchscreen is standard on the Longhorn trim. Rear seats recline for the ultimate in passenger comfort. There's even a rear seat fold-down center console and rear seat ventilation.
