Upscaled & Updated 2022 Jeep Compass

For 2022, Jeep updated the Jeep Compass on the inside and outside, but there’s no doubt it’s still a Jeep at heart. The updated Compass has a subtle redesign to the front end, giving it an upscale look. The interior redesign involves updates to the infotainment system. The legendary automaker also added two new trims, giving buyers more luxury features in the rugged SUV.

Terrain-Conquering Performance

The 2022 Jeep Compass engine did not change from the 2021 Jeep Compass. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine comes with a six-speed automatic when paired with the standard front-wheel-drive system. The all-wheel-drive models come with a nine-speed automatic.

All Compass models come with a unique feature that changes the torque depending on the driving conditions. The Compass also comes with three drive modes: Snow, Sand, and Mud.

Buyers who choose the Trailhawk trim for the Jeep Compass 4x4 get a low crawler gear mode and a Rock mode. This gives the Jeep Compass Trailhawk an off-road torque that lets the wheels grip rocks and dirt. The Trailhawk is the only model with the Jeep Trail Rated badging and Off-Road Suspension.

With front-wheel drive, the EPA-estimated gas mileage on the Compass is 21/31 MPG, while the all-wheel-drive model gets an EPA-estimated 21/30 MPG.

Plenty of Standard Safety Features

The 2022 Compass comes with several safety and security features. The first is the standard Advanced Safety Group with Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Active Lane Management, and Pedestrian and Cyclist Emergency Detection.

The Latitude Lux introduces the next level of safety features with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers, ParkSense Rear Park Assist, and Automatic High-Beam Headlamps.

The top two trims, the (Red) and High Altitude, come with enhanced visibility thanks to the Premium LED Projector Headlamps, Automatic High Beams, LED Tail Lamps, and LED Fog Lamps.

Upgraded UConnect Technology

An important part of the 2022 upgrade is the interior tech. Previous model years had UConnect technology, but the newest Jeep Compass has the newest version: UConnect 5. This software comes with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sport and Latitude trims have an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while the Latitude Lux includes the 10.1-inch screen.

The Latitude Lux is the first trim with the largest touchscreen. The upgraded tech comes with 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hot Spot, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Jeep offers an upgraded audio system, but the High Altitude trim comes standard with a Premium Alpine Speaker System with GPS Navigation, Alexa, Connected Travel and Traffic Services, HD Radio, and a Removable Short-Mast Antenna.

Rugged and Sophisticated Styling

The noticeable styling difference for the 2022 Compass is in the interior. The new dash has a driver-friendly elevated position. There is seating for five with plenty of support in the front and rear seats. On the inside, the Compass holds up to 27.2 cubic feet in the rear cargo space, and the space increases to 59.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

All trims are standard with heated side-view mirrors and various exterior and interior features. The Sport and Latitude trims have cloth seats, while the Latitude Lux has leather-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The heated front seats complement the heated steering wheel. The Trailhawk has premium cloth with leather-trimmed seats, while the other trims, including the High Altitude, have leather-trimmed seats with heat.

The Sport trim comes with 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and the Latitude and Trailhawk have 17-inch wheels. The Latitude Lux and Limited trims have 18-inch wheels, while the (Red) and High Altitude trims have 19-inch wheels.
