Another option is the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with 260 horsepower and a towing-friendly 480 lb-ft of torque to tow up to 12,560 pounds, especially paired with the Quad Cab and 6’4” bed. All trims can be equipped with this engine, except the Tradesman HFE.

RAM also offers a 6.2-liter V8 tuned to deliver 702 horsepower with 650 lb-ft of torque. Since this engine is designed for off-road performance in the RAM 1500 TRX, it’s not a good choice for towing. Instead, shoppers can outfit a RAM with a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI for towing capacity between 8,490 and 12,750 pounds and impressive acceleration and power.
